Scientist, Tumor Biology

San Diego, CA

  • We are seeking a responsible, dynamic, creative and highly motivated discovery biologist to join our tumor biology team in the R&D division to contribute to preclinical research programs aimed at the development of treatments for cancer.
  • This is a full-time position in the company’s San Diego headquarters. 

Specific Responsibilities

  • Lead investigations that establish strong mechanistic rational for prioritization of therapeutic candidates
  • Define context-specific intervention strategies that are optimized for durable tumor control 
  • Design fit-for-purpose assays to assess target modulation and pharmacological effects
  • Analyze and document experimental data in electronic notebooks in a timely and accurate manner in accordance with company policies
  • Participate in development and execution of oncology discovery strategy
  • Participate in the preparation and presentation of scientific findings internally and externally (oral, posters, and publications)

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in cancer biology, cell biology, molecular biology or related field
  • Strong research and publication track record
  • Deep knowledge of cancer biology and cell regulation
  • Expertise in 2D/3D cell culture, cell-based assays, deep phenotypic profiling
  • Experience with various techniques for assaying gene function and pathway biology (CRISPR, RNAi, qPCR, NGS, Immunofluorescence, Western blots, etc)
  • Excellence in experimental design, execution and interpretation
  • Ability to approach complex problems with innovative solutions and generate actionable hypotheses
  • Desire to learn and tackle new challenges and lead new initiatives
  • Proven ability to collaborate in a team environment, work independently, think strategically, and be self-motivated
  • Experience with in vivo models is a plus
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Must be a team-player, punctual and reliable, dependable and flexible in adapting to change in a multi-disciplinary, fast-paced work environment
  • Level will be commensurate with experience
